Hi, I’m Catharine.

I’ve been designing for the web and print since the mid 1990s, and along the way, I’ve discovered my niche — creating beautiful designs that are also content-first. I have a background in environmental journalism, and I very quickly realized that the right design was sometimes just as important as the written words. They each play a valuable role, and they each interact with users in a different way. Melding those two together, to me, is the fun part.

My work has appeared in major outlets, I’ve written for both regional and national publications, I’ve led production teams for agencies like the CDC and DOJ, and I’ve been a senior designer for more than 20 years. I’ve also recently decided to sell my art and illustrations as a side project, and I even have a couple of books in the works.

Over the years, I’ve worked on projects for About.com, Better Homes & Gardens, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Defense, Naomi Klein, National Institute of Justice, Ready Set Rocket, The Pragmatic Programmers, and V (formerly Eve Ensler), along with a fair amount of white label work for advertising agencies.
